Location Communication

Locations

Locations are designed to be able to mirror your organizations physical layout as closely as you'd like. They can be "nested" inside of one another, similar to folders on your computer.

i.e. State/County/City/Community/Building Name/Floor/etc. This is just an example.
You can change the order below to match your geographic and physical structure

Location Types

Locations types are designed to enable you to target multiple locations of a similar type and purpose.

  • Use examples include "Storage", "Dining", "Residential", or "Mixed-Used".
  • Message Example: You could send a message to any location of the type "Health Care" regardless of physical location.
  • Locations can be assigned to one or more location types

Location Groups

Are useful for creating collections of locations, typically for targeting notifications. You can add locations to a group one of two ways:

  • Individually, on a per-location basis;
  • Collectively, based on location type
  • As an example, you may wish to create an "Employee-Only Areas" location group to send notifications just to staff.
  • This group could link to location types "Maintenance Facilities", "Operations", and "Employee Housing". In this example, when that location group is selected for a notification, all locations matching that location type (and all users assigned to those locations) would receive that notification.

Contact Communication

Contact Types

Setting up Contact Types and assigning to a contact enables you to target messages towards a specific subset of people with a special need, skill or purpose. Contact types are assigned to the contact.

Strategies may be needed to reach specialists, skill sets and high-risk and vulnerable populations, such as:

  • Doctors
  • Resident
  • Family
  • Volunteer
  • Employee
  • Student

Example: You could send a message to any contact with assigned the "Doctor" type regardless of physical location.

Contact Groups

Contact Groups enable you to target messages towards a specific grouping of people. Groups can be broad or specific.

Example: You could send a message to any contact that is in the "Volunteer Group". This could be employees, students, residents, etc.

Contacts are added to contact groups.

Contact Relationships

Relationships are used to associate one contact to another in a meaningful way.

Example, designating a certain contact as the spouse or family member of another contact.

Relationships can be bi-directional or uni-directional. For example:

  • Bi-directional relationship between two contacts, with the relationship being 'family member';
  • Uni-directional relationship which makes has one contact being 'emergency contact' for another person.
  • Uni-direction relationships with one contact being 'Patient' and the other being 'Doctor'

Relationships are assigned to a contact by editing the contact and going to the 'Relationships' tab.

  • Phone calls get attention but are easy to tune out if used for regular updates and get avoided - Best used for emergencies and major notifications.

 

  • Text Messages are attention grabbing and highly read but they are high in volume and are limited with the amount of information that can be sent - Best used for updates, schedule changes, emergencies and major notifications

 

  • Emails are easy to share a lot of information but easily get filtered - Best used for engaging readers, newsletters, information and updates.

 

  • Digital Signs are attention grabbing and impact-full but you have to be there - Best used for activity, dining, events, updates and major notifications.

 

  • Web Content is easy to share across all public mediums, social platforms and website.
